Dr. Amer Al-Hinai is IEEE senior member and has been elected for the chairman position of IEEE Oman section on January 2014. He served previously as the section vice-chair and section secretory. In addition, he served among the first committee that established IEEE PES Oman chapter as the vice-chair.
Dr. Amer received a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University. He received his M.Sc. and PhD in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University.
Dr. Amer is a faculty member in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at Sultan Qaboos University. Currently, he is a visiting professor at Masdar Institute of Science & Technology. In addition, Dr. Amer is the Chairman of the Authority of Electricity Regulation – Oman, the electricity regulator in the Sultanate of Oman. His areas of interest are Power Systems: Control and Operation, Multi-Agent Systems: Application to Control of Power Systems, Optimization Techniques and Applications to Power Systems, and Energy Conservation.
