The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is the largest department in the College of Engineering and it offers BSc., MSc., and PhD Degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The department also collaborates with the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department in offering BSc Degree in Mechatronics Engineering (MCTE). Currently, the department enrolls about 700 undergraduate students and more than 60 graduate students. There are 36 faculty members, 17 technical staff and 2 administrative staff.
   
 
The department offers courses and conducts research in the fields of Communications and Signal Processing, Computer Systems and Networks, Power Systems and Energy, and Electronic Instrumentation and Control. The faculty members of the Department are engaged in teaching academic advising, research, and administrative activities, with a substantial research output.
   
 
Our students, along with our staff, are the backbone of our department’s achievements and are engaged in academic and professional activities. The IEEE Student Branch in the Department regularly organizes workshops and activities for the benefit of students and it undertakes students’ projects that have won the Department acclaim in international student gatherings.
   
 
A milestone in 2013 was the successful Accreditation of the ECE program (and MCTE program) by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
