Amir Abdulghani

Dr. Amir Abdulghani is the founder and chair of IEEE Communication Society (Oman). He is also the Publicity officer at IEEE Oman section. He has been serving as faculty member in  the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University for almost 17 years. 

Dr. Amir Abdulghani received his PhD from Imperial College London (UK) and his Master's from the University of British Columbia (Canada). He has served as the Acting Assistant Dean for Training and Community Service and also chaired the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Committee of the College for several years. He is senior member of IEEE. Currently he is chairing the College's Media Committee and Community Engagement and Publicity Committee of the ECE Department at SQU. He is also member of several other committees and the Smart City Research Group established at SQU that is expected to lead the country’s modernization strategy in context of smart city framework. This research group comprises of top national scientists for developing plans and formulating practical smart city solutions. He is actively involved in Industrial Outreach and Community Services activities.
